5 Late-Night Musings From A Political Wife The Night Before An Election

Tonight is election-eve in my neck of the woods. That is pretty much a holiday if you are a political wife. At this point in the campaign, most political spouses have either been a solo-parent or living with someone who is spun so tight you think they will snap or have a stroke.

Fear not (some sort of) normalcy is finally on the horizon.

Apparently, your body (mostly) replaces itself every 7-15 years. However, I feel like a completely different person than I was that last election-eve only four years ago.

So much has happened since the LAST election night (leadership races, scandals, more leadership races . . .).
As I sit here 4 years older and a whole lot wiser, what have I learned?

Get ready for some cliches:
1) If you’re going through hell, keep on going. Very few things get better if you quit or check out. Yes, it sucks, but stopping won’t REALLY make it any better. Truly, the only way out is through

2) Horrible things will happen and might break you down. Then you will rebuild. I promise. Message me; I will help.

3) Forgive, but don’t forget. Bitterness will not make you a better person or your life better. But learn from those who have you hurt you.

4) You really can’t trust anyone except a therapist. You should probably get one.

5) Laugh. The world is crazy and very few things make sense. Take comfort that this will probably be the only constant.

Good luck to all who are running in this election and their families. My door is open to you.

I’m Back!!!

I’m back! Welcome to Political Wife Life 2.0!

The site has been given a facelift and almost two years have passed since I last posted. Not that much has changed but I am older and wiser (though you would never know by looking at me)!

The Blog Got a Facelift. I don’t need one.

Instagram
Since my hiatus from blogging, I have been working hard on Instagram. Please comment below with your Instagram handle if you follow us because I would love to head over to your Instagram profile, give it some love, and get to know you better.

If you don’t follow PWL on Instagram, please click here!

For those of you who aren’t on Instagram, it is a social media site that, although it is owned by Facebook, Instagram is more about sharing your world through images.

A picture really is worth a thousand words. Although this photo isn’t the clearest or most attractive photo of me, it is a significant photo that summarizes a lot of what has been going on in my life since I last published a blog post.

In fact, I had no idea how significant this photo would be when I took it. It was just a quick selfie I took to make a friend smile.

The Story
The story behind the photo: My neighbour’s dog had been spayed a few days prior and that day was her first day back to work since her fur baby’s surgery. She asked me since I worked from home if I would be able to pop in and cuddle her dog throughout the day.

Sure, twist my arm.

So, I snapped a quick picture of her adorable puppy and sent it to her while she was at work.
This is where it gets bizarre: Last month, there was a mass-casualty attack near where I live. This photo was taken at the EXACT time the tragedy was taking place, only a few blocks away.

Designing My Life
But let’s examine the photo. Here I am living life on my terms and doing something I love AND making money. Designing how and where I live has not only allowed me to take major stressors and challenges and make them into assets (which has tremendously helped my mental health and overall outlook on life) but also allowed me to help a friend and grab some puppy snuggles during working hours.

If I hadn’t popped over to snuggle the puppy and taken a phone call on my way out the door to a craft store, I would have been in the exact place at the exact time of the attack. Creepy.

Anyways, I love my life, my outlook, my job, and the time and geographical flexibility it allows. This picture reminds me that I took control and designed my life the way I want it.

Work With Me?
Do you love your life and your job? I am looking for 4 people to join me in my business so if you live in Canada, USA, or Australia, DEFINITELY message me and I would love to chat with you. No experience is required. I am just looking for self-motivated people who are coachable.

Brexit: The Pub Version

Greetings from across the pond!

I am lucky enough to be in the UK for the Brexit vote. This is striking gold in political nerdom!

On my way to the UK I was planning on collecting Brexit ads. Sadly, I am seeing very few. In fact, the only one I saw was in a pub (surprise, surprise).

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term “Brexit,” there is a referendum vote on Thursday June 23 to determine if the United Kingdom should leave the European Union.

This is a non-partisan blog and not having UK citizenship I really have no strong feelings towards the outcome of the vote. HOWEVER, I LOVE POLITICAL ADVERTISING! Actually, I love advertising in general.

The ad I found was in a pub called “Robert the Bruce” in Scotland. It appears to be owned by a bigger corporation, called โ€œWetherspoon.”

Here is the ad

Dear Readers, can you please send the Brexit ads that you have found? Please comment below, share them on our Facebook page or email them to kate@politicalwifelife.com

Just so everything is transparent, I am NOT being paid to write this post. But for what it is worth, while I was there, I ordered the Tika Masala. It was gluten free and delicious. The staff were able to get AG’s food in record time even though they were really busy because of a town-wide festival!

Political Wife Life in REAL LIFE

**This is a post in progress. But since it is about being authentic, I thought I would leave it up until I fixed it**

A lot of the photos I share on the blog and on social media are pictures of me when I am dulled up at events. I strongly believe that we should also share pictures of ourselves in REAL LIFE.

Political Wife Life is pleased to announce our 1st video blog: PWL in REAL LIFE!

Movie on 2016-05-24 at 11.34 AM

P.S. Want to see another pic of me “In REAL LIFE?” Check out my this post of my gym routine (aka drinking tea on the treadmill while I do conference calls.) Scroll down, it is right at the bottom of the post.

Super Tuesday Fortune Telling!!!

Super Tuesday Fortune Telling!!!

In preparation for SUPER TUESDAY:

Although I sometimes feel that being a political wife is a full time job, I also own a social media management company. There are some pretty cool tools in the world of social media management and one of them is the social media listening tool Zoomph.

It turns out that Zoomph might be doing a better job predicting political winners than polls! Check it out!
